Writing the Sacred 20 - 23rd June
Set in a costal landscape, this fully catered retreat offers writers an opportunity to witness, experience and express the sacred in our everyday world through the art of writing.Award winning writer and teacher, Mark Tredinnick, will join Philip Harvey, the Carmelite Librarian, and poetry editor of the online magazine, Eureka St, and Carol O’Connor, teacher and manager of St Peter’s Book Room, in a programme of presentations, workshops and readings to inspire writers wishing to evoke the intrinsic mystery of our world through the art of writing.

The Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, Southeast Asia's most renowned literary event gets set to celebrate its 10 year anniversary, between 11 - 15 October 2013. In 2013, the Festival comes full circle returning to its original theme Through Darkness to Light/Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang honouring RA Kartini, Indonesia's beloved women’s rights pioneer. Beyond paying homage to Kartini, the 2013 program will focus on women's stories, women's rights and education, heroes and visionaries. Writers across all genres will be embraced, including travel writers, songwriters, playwrights, poets, comedians and graphic novelists.

Monash University – New Authors Survey
Research into first-time authors' experiences of getting published is needed for a Masters in Publishing and Editing research paper at Monash University. The research asks directed questions via e-mail of both aspiring authors and authors of debut published books of fiction, short stories, and poetry. Although answers are optional, all information given will be regarded as eligible content for quotation and analysis. If you are willing to participate or wish for more details, please send an email to dnow3@student.monash.edu.

$850 per week writers’ accommodation. Photographs and further information about the facilities are available on our Facebook site. Writers interested in making a booking should email an outline of the project they are working on and tell us when they would like to stay and any particular requirements they may have.

Intensive Course on Writing a Novel
Responding to popular demand, Faber Academy’s six-month Writing a Novel course is now available as an intensive. This is a unique opportunity to experience the same content of our flagship course condensed into three long weekends in Sydney, starting October 2013. Running over three long weekends in October, December and February 2014, with Skype meetings in between, students will have the opportunity to be part of the publishing and literary community, with minimum disruption to their often busy lives. Hunter Fellowship of Australian Writers
The Hunter FAW is calling for members. Membership is $40 per annum which includes workshops – to be facilitated by gifted local authors such as Judy Johnson, Jacqui Wynn and Julie Simpson – and their quarterly journal Writers Voice. Non-members can also attend workshops for a fee of $20.
FAW meets at the Sydney Junction Hotel Beaumont St Hamilton at 10.15 a.m. on the First Wednesday each month.
